  • Burial of time capsule on Miss Whalley's Field

    Fri 12 Jul 2019

This morning (Friday 12th July), we thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Miss Whalley’s Field, where we had been invite by the Friend’s of the field to bury a time capsule. This was organised by the School Council, who had consulted with their classes about what they’d like the capsule to include. We held a short service, which was attended by the  Deputy Mayor of Lancaster, before burying the capsule under the bench which over looks the bay, and enjoying a whole school picnic lunch on the field.

A plaque has been purchased and will be added to the site once the ground has settled.

Many thanks for all the donations in support of Cancer Care during the Cha Cha Plank Slide Challenge with Steve.

We have been delighted to welcome Lauriene into school this week (1st - 5th July) as part of an exchange visit from France. Lauriene has spent each morning in Year 3 and split her time in the afternoons between Years 2, 3 and 4.

Lauriene’s Mum, Diane, has also very kindly visited school each day to offer French lessons to the children in Reception, Year 1, 2, 3 and 4.

It’s been a great experience for the children and we hope to welcome Lauriene and her family back to Christ Church in the future!

  • Reception and Year 6 class visits

    Thu 04 Jul 2019

Reception enjoyed a visit to Morecambe on Thursday (4th July) to link in with the work that they have been doing on ‘The Seaside’.

They caught the train from Lancaster Station, arriving at Bare Lane Station at  10.30am.

They walked to Happy Mount Park where they visited the Splash Park, before enjoying a ride on the swing boats and a play in the playground.

The weather was perfect for their picnic lunch!

Lunch was followed by a ride on the miniature railway and the afternoon topped off with an ice cream.

    What a fantastic day!

Many thanks to the helpers who made the visit possible.

Year 6 also enjoyed a trip out on Thursday, to Soul Bowl in Morecambe, where they enjoyed two games of bowling and lunch in the café.

This visit was offered to Year 6 as a reward for all their hard work this year, and to let them know that we appreciate all the responsibilities that they take on around school.

  • Marvellous Music

    Fri 14 Jun 2019

On Friday afternoon (14th June), Year 5 and 6 enjoyed a fantastic visit to the Ashton Hall, where they had the opportunity to experience a live orchestra. The Haffner Orchestra performed Arabian Nights stories, through Rimsky-Korsakov’s music, ‘Sheherazade’. It was a wonderful experience!

On Monday afternoon (10th June), Year 3 were invited to Bowerham Primary School to take part in a Steel Drumming Workshop. The children thoroughly enjoyed this chance to learn about a new instrument.

This morning, the whole school enjoyed hearing the talents of our musicians in school as they performed in our termly concert. It is fantastic to hear the progress that they are making! If your child is interested in music  lessons in school, please return the slip to the school office.

We will continue to broaden our musical experiences later this term when we’ll welcome Susan Doherty, a specialist music teacher into year 5 for an ocarina workshop.
