What is Spirituality?

At Lancaster Christ Church, we have been developing our understanding of Spirituality as a means through which to support flourishing, both as individuals and as a school family.

Spirituality is those small yet transformative moments.

It is about finding awe, wonder and meaning in the world around us.

It is about getting to know ourselves – what inspires us, moves us, challenges us?

It can also be about God and building a relationship with him, but that is just one part.

At Lancaster Christ Church, we have determined that Spirituality is developed through our relationships with ourselves, with others, with God and with the wider world.

Spiritual learners reflect on the relationship that they have with themselves and their sense of being a unique person.

Spiritual learners reflect on how their values and principles affect their relationships with others.

Spiritual learners search for meaning in their very existence and their place in the greater scheme of things.

Spiritual learners explore their understanding of beauty and the affect this has on their perception of and relationship with the world.

(Based on Andrew Rickett's Framework for Spirituality)

How can we develop our Spirituality?
