Prayer Spaces
We held the first of our Prayer Spaces events in December 2016 and aim to host two events each academic year.
Each event runs over two days and every child attends a session.
There are eight 'stations' set out in the hall (or outdoors for the Values event). Each station focuses on a different element of the theme. The stations are clearly defined by using gazebos, fabric and props. A calm and reflective atmosphere is created with special lighting, candles and fairy lights.
We have eight stations, each facilitated by an adult – volunteers from the congregation of Christ Church, Clergy, parents of children in school and other people with faith known to us.
Each class visits the stations in groups of 3-4 children. The groups rotate every six minutes to allow the children to experience the different stations.
The adults facilitating the sessions have a plan to follow and they adapt them slightly to suit the age of children visiting.
These are beautiful days which allowed children and adults the opportunity to focus on Jesus. All those who take part are touched by the reflections done by the children and the tangible presence of God.
