  • Lancaster Singing Festival

    Wed 20 Mar 2019

We were delighted to be part of the annual Lancaster Singing Festival which took place on Monday and Wednesday evening this week.

On Monday, the year 2 children performed brilliantly both in terms of singing and actions to accompany, while on Wednesday, the Harmony Choir represented the Key stage 2 children fantastically.

Every child who attended was a credit to the school. Huge thanks to Mrs Jones and Mrs Edwards for their hard work in preparing for the performances; to all the friends and relatives of the children who supported them by attending the concert; and to the children themselves for their commitment to learning all the words!

  • School Council Joke Telling Competition

    Fri 15 Mar 2019

In support of Comic Relief, the School Council organised a Joke Telling Competition which took place this afternoon.

We had a great time listening to all the jokes, and choosing a winner from each class was very difficult! However the School Council were an excellent panel and the following entries were selected as the winners:

    Reception: Tobias:

What wobbles in the sky? A jelly-copter!

    Year 1: George:

Why couldn’t the long-necked dinosaur see? Because it has it’s head in the clouds!

    Year 2: Robin:

How do you make an octopus laugh? Give it 10 tickles!

    Year 3: Dylan:

Knock, knock. Whose there? Ghost. Ghost who? No! Ghosts go “Whooooo!”

    Year 4: Molly:

Which teacher at Christ Church school has the most money? Mrs Ritchings!

    Year 5: James:

How do you spot a modern spider? He has his own website!

    Year 6: Tommy:

What cheese do you use to draw a bear out of a cave? Camembert

A copy of all the jokes shared in the competition is available to buy from Monday in a joke booklet. If you would like to purchase one, please bring 50p to the school office. All proceeds will go to Comic Relief.

  • Lifespace

    Wed 06 Mar 2019

It has been fantastic to welcome the Life Education ‘Lifespace’ in to school this week to support our PHSE curriculum.

Each class has had the opportunity to visit the Lifespace to learn about various topics linked to personal, health, social and emotional development.

It was also great to be able to welcome some parents to the parent session on Thursday afternoon.

  • Fairtrade Friday

    Fri 01 Mar 2019

We have enjoyed a day of Fairtrade themed activities today, which we have dedicated as ‘Fairtrade Friday’.

We are very fortunate to have welcomed Pam Martin into school, who, with her knowledge of Fairtrade, has been able to support teachers in sharing a range of activities with their classes.

At 2.30pm, parents are invited into the school hall to share some of the work that the children have undertaken, as well as to visit our ‘Fairtrade Stall’, which features a range of craft, drink, food and household items for sale.

Many thanks to the CraftAid shop at St. Thomas’ Church for their support in organising the Fairtrade items for sale.
